Yes or no? ;D
Seem to have sparked a massive discussion at work today after returning from the canteen with a Cappuccino and a croissant and proceeding to dunk the croissant in the coffee. :)
Would have thought I had murdered someone by the look of horror I got from one of the nurses :-\
Apparently the majority are against biscuit dunking etc entirely. Best bit in my opinion!
Also Best dunking biscuit? vote away...
NOOOOO!! Disgusting habit :D :D
Yes to biscuits - especially chocolate biscuits.
No to croissants or any sort of cake though.
Aaaaargh; most certainly not! :sick2:
John
Digestives or ginger nuts ....
until you find the shelf fillers have been playing football with them, ...
and half drops off into your coffee :'(
I would never dunk biscuits in my drinks - heck, I don't even dunk ice in my whisky :smiley-laughing:
Bourbons dunked in coffee, but only instant coffee.
Or...
Cadburys Wispa dunked in hot chocolate.
The only thing I dunk in coffee is Bailey's Original.
Nectar
KFC dunked in Coke or Root Beer. Yum. Hey, don't knock it till you've tried it. Live life.
must admit I never really liked hot chocolate ...
but one night when I was on evening shift on the airfield in NI, and the snow clearance crews were out, wandered past them as they were having a break and was offered a corned beef sarnie, well more a doorstop, and one for A/D Rex as well :food: and a mug of hot chocolate, think it was navy, CHI ??, with a tot of rum in it. :claphappy:
really warmed me up, and very much appreciated their sharing their break with us.
Biccies - yes - especially ginger snaps :)
Croissants - not for me but if you must ........
Believe that those persons across the channel have a penchant for dunking their croissants, apparently in hot chocolate.

Most definitely no ice in whisky even if the tasting notes suggest otherwise.
looks like I spelled it wrong ...
should have been Kye

Croissants in cafe au lait for breakfast - tick,
Ginger biccies in coffee - tick,
KFC, Coke and root beer are all disgusting. I dread to think what they are like together...
Cheers,
Chris
Dunking has been scientifically proven ;) to improve mental health and wellbeing.
So far I have found no reason to doubt this having dunked a whole range of comestibles in my time, including, but not limited to, MvVities Digestives (with or without chocolate, plain or milk), Ginger Nuts, Custard Creams, Bourbons, Squashed-Fly biscuits, and Penguins.
The latter (not the feathered variety) is a special case, as the dunking is merely a precursor to using the biscuit, while one end is still in the hot liquid of choice, in the manner of a straw, drawing up the fluid through the layers within the chocolate covering.
WARNING!: this is inevitably a messy business.
:D
bleuch :sick2:
All biccies are dunkable. I'd go so far as to say it's required :)
Not so sure about croissants? Don't they just go soggy? Still I'm not one to question. I used to dunk beef paste sarnies! :D
in Oxo or Bovril ?
Well, seeing as someone else has cracked the door open, I have a penchant for dipping ham and mayo sandwiches in my cup a soup.
:-[
it takes all kinds
For Christmas our eldest son bought us a Tassimo Coffee machine that makes amazing Costa coffee. Now started buying amaretti biscuits which are awesome dunked in this tasty brew.
The two flavours sort of reminds me being at Liverpool street station where I used to grab a cuppa and a biscuit from a Costa kiosk before catching the train to Romford, after an enjoyable day either at TINGS or Warley!
Despite being on decaff coffee for 27 years owing to heart issues, I admit to partaking in a Costa coffee whenever possible, rather than................

Too right, life is too short to deny oneself of life's simple pleasures and Starbucks ain't one of them! :) ;)
I can never make up me mind whether to have red or white wine on me cornflakes in the morning :D
It takes me about an hour to be fully compos mentis in the morning so I find that rosé wine goes well with cornflakes as you don't have to make the red/white decision :).
I'm not a biscuit dunker but if I had to eat a croissant I'd certainly want to cover it in something that actually tasted nice.
No help at all but if you put bread in soup then why not croissant in coffee? Tell 'em to mind their own.
Cheers, weave :beers:
Never thought of rose! Victoria Bitter is no good - the froth spoils the cornflakes
What are people's thoughts about dunking Weetabix in baked beans?
OK.... the connection being? :confused2:

Should have left it at that
Phillipe's French Dip - roast meat sandwich dunked in gravy. You can drink the gravy so I count it as a valid "drink" to dunk into.
Menu follows: https://www.philippes.com/menu (https://www.philippes.com/menu)
Get the beef, double-dipped with swiss cheese. And get a jar of the mustard for home consumption.
Aah, American 'haute cuisine', I am sorely missing my annual doseage of fine fare. Would you believe I can't get a half-pound double stack burger with bacon, pulled pork, cheddar, bbq sauce, onion rings and fries on the side anywhere round here. Shocking.

If you Google Garibaldi biscuits you'll see the squashed currant filling looks like mashed flies.

That's a drag, man. Just makes me fart
You're (mostly) monsters! Dunking any food in any beverage is just wrong. I can just, just conceive of dipping a biscuit with exceptional integrity (such as a Hobnob) in a cup of tea, but that's it. Sandwiches in soup? Croissants in coffee?

Drag? Who mentioned drag?
You can keep all your sweet sickly dessert stuff. For me, the best dunk is to use up any gravy left after a roast meal by dunking slices of bread into it. I'll take bread & gravy rather than a dessert any day of the week. Trouble is, my nephew has also developed a taste for it so I have competition now
Does that mean you're both on the gravy train?
ahhhh ... Bisto
mind you, once had a manager who used to put gravy on his chips :sick2:
everyone knows its salt and vinegar on chips :food:

I know right! It's like a form of abuse!
I've even had to resort to making my own Buffalo chicken strips and blue cheese dip. It's a messy process, but by god they're good.
The other thing I'm really missing is Wild Berry Skittles. They did them in this country for a bit, but took out the 'nice'
chemicals flavourings so they were rubbish.
:'(
I have never been one for much dunking of biscuits, but I'm with Mick

And I will quite often, at lunchtime, have a bowl of soup and a few slices of dry bread and I have to say, @class37025 (https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=311), chips were made for gravy, unless it's fish and chips, then yes, salt and vinegar.
Vinegar? I have never understood why people would put acid on their chips
On the subject of chips whenever we have been to the chip shop why does the Chinese lady always ask if I have a sore finger?
oh dear :'(
she is asking if you want
SALT & VINEGAR :worried:
you really need to get out more, and not just to the female dog (changed by forum) shed :smiley-laughing:

When I do a toad-in-the-hole I only put the toads in one half of the tray and have that half for the main course.
The other half has the rest of the gravy poured over it and sugar sprinkled on for the sweet course - unless I have some golden syrup in stock.
yorkie pudding with golden syrup :food:
gran used to call them batter puddings, ...
but the same mix for
pancakes
yorkies
batter pudding
toad in the hole.
all :food: :food:
love pancakes with maple syrup and bacon .... problem is, so does HB if given the chance :'(

Yes it was a trip to the continent that sparked the habit after seeing the practice take place.
Had a feeling this would spark a good debate ;D

I think that becomes more common place/acceptable the further north you go....
Other half is from the north and has a thing for gravy on chips or curry sauce
Salt and vinegar only is my preference.
