Last year i was a lucky boy and was able togo see the LOXX model railway in Berlin while on a stag trip. The size of this layout is massive and have never ever seen anything like it. And the control centre or the hub i should call it was somthing out of a real CCTV control centre. Anyway abit of info and pics for you.
2,500 square metres of H0 scale model railway scenery in the centre of Berlin. It markets itself as the world's "largest digital model railway (PHS)" (whatever that means) and boasts 4.15km (about 3 miles) of track, more than 400 trains, 10,000 road vehicles and a population of 50,000 human figures. "Night" falls every 20 minutes and the layout is illuminated by over 18,000 miniture lights. (copy and paste this bit from the loxx website)
Enjoy

When in Berlin........ well it would have been rude not to Duncan, is this one on the scale of Miniature Wunderland in Hamburg? SWMBO wants to go to see the one in Hamburg, weird woman ;D Thanks for the pictures
Thanks for the reply, Not only was there this amazing layout that i watched for over an hour there is a working airport/railway layout as well will upload some pictures of that as well.
And they were also building two new sections when i went what were coming on very well, would be good to go back and take a look. The Fun fair on the main layout was the best bit.
That looks a real treat!!
Incredible! I'm guessing that it's a permanent display?

Sorry to bump this thread, but it is indeed permanent - but has been dismantled once as it was originally in a different location.
Anyway here's a small album of not particularly good pictures from my 2014 trip, which I've finally uploaded somewhere:

I used to work in the tall white building on the left:

Thanks for that, I hadn't seen this before. Those Germans do love their model railways, don't they?
:searchingsign: Loxx??
Public service announcement: unfortunately LOXX Berlin is closed as of August 2017.
Aaaaaargh!
