Title: SUPERBOWL TIME AGAIN
Post by: Newportnobby on February 07, 2021, 11:04:02 AM
Will anyone else be watching this intriguing clash? Tom Brady of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers going for his 7th Superbowl ring v Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs who won it last year.
The orthodox v the very unorthodox ;D

Definitely YES.

Who do you fancy for the Trophy N.N?

Yes, very interested and follow all matches, used to go to London Monarchs games and went to a couple of the NFL Wembley matches (bit too dear for my liking!)

I'm not staying up and watching the whole drawn out process though, with the advert time outs and boring pundits. I will isolate myself until 10am Monday and watch the highlights on SkyNFL.

It's not a match I want to call the result on though!

Tempted...
To stay up all night, I am...

At least the first hour... how about adding a zoom session to discuss nGauge during the adverts?

I just can't call it, Maurice  I do think it will be a very good game, though.

Sadly not for me, Alexander. I enjoy watching Osi and Jay Bell but just know I'll not last the whole game so will record it and watch tomorrow morning what I miss tonight.

Yes a surprisingly splendid thing it seamed... Still a great game it was.

Grandmaster Tom is now better than the most successful teams in The NFL. He has 7 titles and the best teams have 6 titles.

I didn't see the end (things to do on an Aussie Monday afternoon), but it was 31-9 at the time.

What was the final score, please?

It's rare to see a team so dominant in every department but the Bucks just stomped the Chiefs into the ground. Never mind the Chiefs not helping themselves with so many penalties, they just had no answer to the way Tampa Bay played.
World Champions? Of course not, when no one else is allowed to compete, but truly deserving NFL champions they certainly are.

Yes, I always find that funny when they say "world champions."

A bit like calling the winners of the Oxford v Cambridge boat race world champions :D

I think Mahomes is possibly the greatest QB I have seen in near 40 years of following the game. Yesterday he had 2 first pick defensive lineman missing which hugely impacted on his protection (there were other first picks missing too) and he was badly let down by his, usually reliable, receivers suddenly being incapable of catching a pass. Perhaps too much pressure on them to win it twice in a row?
Having said that, Brady's game management is second to none and the team is set up to protect him at all costs and his partnership with Gronkowski is phenomenal. He has however, been lucky with injuries this season and I would actually like him to retire at the top of his game now whilst he is the GOAT.
Watch out though, if KC can get some great picks in the draft, who is to say the Kid wont be the GOAT one day

I think the bucaneers are on their way to more SuperBowls... They are just starting to build a young team with a tried and true core (Tom, Ron and the other receiver...) Some of their rookies already showed a big game yesterday... Count them in on a place at the bowl next season

Mahones and the Chiefs... counted on their last year supper bowl... to put fear in their adversaries.... They just were no match to a fearless and motivaed O-line

I think that some people are mixing O lines and D lines!

The O line is what the Chiefs didn't have ie the guys trying to protect the QB from the Buccs D line (particularly the pass rushers).

Mahomes was incredible despite losing, just a pity that his O line was paper thin and Shaq Barratt and JPP ran riot coupled with great cover in the secondary by the Buccs to negate Kelce and Hill.  He ran nearly 500 yds to try and avoid defenders whilst trying to get the ball away - that is amazing! There's a great heat map on Twitter of the difference between Brady being so well protected in the pocket and all the scrambling that Mahomes did to try and get the ball away.

I agree with much of that, Mike, especially the use of the Safeties by the Buccs.
At one point Mahomes attempted a pass when he was horizontal in the air!
He has always been a scrambler in marked contrast to Brady who stays in the pocket and has trained those around to protect him.
