Title: Tomix 6421 spares...?
Post by: emjaybee on January 24, 2021, 11:46:19 PM
Grrrrr.

I bought a Tomix 6421 track cleaning 'car' on FleaBay some time back.

I now realise that it has a few bits missing. Most notably, the bits I want.

It does not have the vacuum cleaning bits, and the extractor to aid changing. Does anyone know anywhere I can obtain spares? I've spent a while on Google and got nowhere.

:(

As far as I know, the only bits which are available separately are the consumables, i.e. cleaning pads. A quick search in Japanese doesn't bring up anything else.

Hmmm, that's pretty much as far as I'd got. Obviously without the 'Japanese' search, thanks for doing that. It's a pickle.

best bet is to advertise here for a dead one (dead motor) or look on Ebay

Just placed an order with Osbornes for a Tomix one. £20 cheaper than Gaugemasters version.

I'll perhaps keep the old one for cleaning/polishing and maybe have a crack at DCC'ing it.

Gotta keep you sweet, I'm hoping for a loada LMS ballast wagons and other stuff from your Carriage and Wagon Works.

(I also ordered a couple of your wagons!)

:D

We had a previous chat about them here...

Either of the two ballast wagons would be appreciated, although any LMS wagons would be appreciated.

At the time I said:

Well, I'd love a small rake of 'Ballast hopper wagon: diagram book page 13C, D1804' if you can overcome whatever hopper hurdles you have. I'd have thought some P-Way wagons would be popular with a lot of people, there were plenty of them built and they went onto to serve with BR for a bit.

Failing that, any of the gas wagons would be interesting to a lot of people, although they didn't make big numbers of them. Or the meat or beer van, plenty of those got made.

I realise it's a commercial decision on your part, but I'd be interested in seeing any of them come to fruition as I'm sure others would.

All the best.

and I'd say the same again. (Both ballast wagons would be awesome!) I tend to support you where I can as you're making the effort to introduce new N items and are open to suggestions. You also make the effort to engage on here, which few other shops/manufacturers do.

I look forward to receiving my order in due course.

I remember now M. Sorry I only got as far as deciding the actual hopper part would be much easier as a 3D printed part. It joined the queue and I forgot about it. Mike has made some prototype 3D printed Catfish and Shark but once the EFE version of the Shark was announced as 'coming' he dropped it, although the Catfish would still be popular I think. The coupling pocket was the final  problem to be resolved if I recall correctly. I will talk to him about it tomorrow. Was the Catfish originally an LMS design?

The Catfish was a BR design.

One of the two LMS ballast hopper wagons became the Gannet/Trout wagon under BR ownership. I can't remember off the top of my head which one.
