Just heard that Gerry Marsden, of Gerry and the Pacemakers fame, has died. One of the groups I really liked when I was a teenager and he had what I call a real singing voice.
RIP Gerry. What a musical legacy you leave us and who doesn't associate "You'll never walk alone" with Liverpool Football Club?
A sad loss. Final ferry across the Mersey.
Agree with both of you. Spoke to a friend in liverpool , he is sad as much as i am. Had a lovely couple of songs we coild all sing

i wont be singing john
Sad news, indeed. His music was the background to my youth :(
I actually saw them live at the Futurist In Scarborough in 1965, I was a disappointed nine year old as the Rolling Stones were on the following day and my parents wouldn't take me.
However I do have in my record collection all the original 45's of his early hits.

I much preferred Gerry and the Pacemakers over the Beatles and although not a real music fan, have a cd of their greatest hits.
RIP Gerry
