Title: Second test, Australia vs India
Post by: Bealman on December 26, 2020, 04:33:34 AM
Just keeping an eye on the Boxing Day match coming from Melbourne. Currently honouring Dean Jones during break in play.

Australia 5/136. Interestingly, although crowds have been limited, and the MCG is not packed to usual capacity, there's still 30 odd thousand there.

The way things are going in Sydney, it looks like the third test which is traditionally held there in the New Year, will probably also be in Melbourne.

not a good day for Australia, India look well on top, and the MCG looked almost empty with 30K people in there, a long way from the 90K+ they would have normally expected on a Boxing day.

Indeed. Not the score Australia are used to.

We have the T20 but it's not so high profile as Big Bash or IPL.

Martin, don't forget it's called "The Blast" these days and we have got the dreaded "100" to come as a so called challenger to IPL and Big Bash, which would have started this year but for Covid.

I'm a purist like the tests, the Australians really have to bat today with 4 wickets two and a half sessions and consider how many runs a depleted indian side will be, definitely though the Aussies missing david Warner and Smith not firing

The MUCH better side won.
India batted better, bowled better and caught better.
Oh well. 2 more tests in the series.

Says on the news that Cricket Australia are locked in discussions about the next test. Personally I can't see it happening in Sydney. We've had a reported covid case here in Wollongong!

I see on the telly this morning that the third test will be in Sydney. Not sure that's a great idea at the moment.

found it amazing the Queensland govt caved in to the cricketers, they sure have some double standards when it comes to sport.

I use espncricinfo.com and there is a rather lengthy discussion, surprised any issues will focus on bio bubbles, welfare. Just glad I'm at home. Even done uk football matches are being called off.

Third test in Sydney just started. At least there's only 25% crowd and $1000 fines for not wearing a mask.

I just glanced at the TV and thought the Indian bowler had a mask on, but on closer inspection, it's his beard  ;)

$1000 fines for not wearing a mask.

That would be an expensive pint of VB if you were caught

Probably just as well. You never know, Covid may be transmitted by rain. I think I need my bed

There was plenty of other entertainment on the TV, live from Washington!  ;)
