Title: Repaints
Post by: dennisfalcon on December 24, 2020, 12:40:05 PM
Hi All

Are there any companies who come recommended for repainting locos, for example I would like an Intercity liveried 47 for my collection, which I know there aren't any in due course.

Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas.

Paul

Paul. Mercig studios spring to mind as do https://www.themodelcentre.com/gallery (https://www.themodelcentre.com/gallery)

Mercig will only do resprays when having a model weathered, and whilst the quality is breathtaking it's very expensive. I don't believe TMC do bespoke resprays anymore either.

There are a small number of people out there who take commissions - I don't know if Anthony @37058 (https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=90) is taking on work at the moment.

The problem will often be that you'll have to buy a donor model and then pay for someone's skill and time. Where there is, or has been, a RTR example it'll almost always make more sense to hold out for one of those on the second hand market. That said if you mean IC Swallow I don't think there is a version of the latest tooling, only Executive, so it may be a more worthwhile Avenue to explore.

Like this one https://www.themodelcentre.com/372-248-graham-farish-n-gauge-class-47-4-47550-university-of-dundee-br-intercity-mainline (https://www.themodelcentre.com/372-248-graham-farish-n-gauge-class-47-4-47550-university-of-dundee-br-intercity-mainline)   Nick, has a valid point, maybe wait for next year and see if one becomes available
