Hi all
Just taken delivery of a Graham Farish Class 101 in BR Green and think I may have been sold a bit of a Mongrel ie Not a matching set
Its supposed to be a 371-500 Running number on the motor unit is E56362 and the running number on the trailing unit is E51204, was that how they were supplied or is this a mix and match of two different version's ?
What got me thinking was the colours of the two units do not quite match and the motor unit looks to be a much more used condition.
Also on the subject of the Farish 101 should it have directional lights, both ends have holes in the body ends for lights to show and the motor end even appears to have lenses which line up with the holes in the cab end, although the other end does not have the lenses.
The only lights that work are the headcode lights which stay on regardless of direction, does this sound correct for this model or should it have lights also showing at either end when moving, I know on my Class 108 it has red lights showing at the back should the 101 have them as well.
Thanks for any help with this
Paul
In terms of lighting, there should be directional reds at least.
These are powered off wiper contacts at the front end of the chassis taking the power from the PCB at roof level down under the cab - these can be prone to not making contact, particularly if the body's been off to fit DCC - this is the first place to look.
Cheers,
Alan
371-500 was issued with those running numbers, so that part at least is legit.
Best
Scott.
Thanks for the replies
Dr Al was spot on with the lights, managed to get the ones in the dummy unit working but when I started taking the power unit apart it became obvious some bodge artist had been there before me, three of the brass contact strips were missing and someone had tried hard wiring it and made a mess.
Back to the seller for a refund now.
Thanks again
Paul
