Title: Farish DBSO
Post by: Dr Al on November 25, 2020, 11:26:42 PM
Surprised to see little comment on these yet, or maybe I missed it!

Having received, I'm quite impressed. The colour matching to Dapol's Mk3s from C+M looks good, interestingly the ride height of the Mk3 seems a smidge taller.

Close coupling works well using Dapol's fixed knuckles.

The included end detail is excellent, with deflector plate and all pipework (though I've painted the red/yellow on the pipes here).

It's a great looking model. Does it feature working headlights?

Yes, two yellows, one white when leading, and when towed, two reds.

Cheers,
Alan

I'm just waiting for Rails to pick up on their backlog and send out my order for these. They do look good, I wonder how they will match up to the old Farish MK3s I've detailed (he says, knowing the lower grey band is probably not the same.....). I do have some of the next C&M Dapol ones on order too.

First "in my hand / on my layout / track" photos of one of these I have seen.

These are right up there in the record of longest time to market, I read last week some people have pre-orders dating from 2013!

Glad they look good, colour match across brands is impressive (though in reality shouldn't be that hard), given how certain manufactures can even match vehicles within their own range!

Ride hight of Dapol MK3s has always been a bit hit and miss, as have the HST power cars.

Still looks great though, can't wait to see a full train

Yes indeed! I am one who has been waiting a long long time! No signs of my order being fulfilled as yet!

Update,

Model Railways Direct were in touch today and parcels of coaches are now on their way including twin-packs for West Highland and Hebridean coaches and a couple of DBSO's.

I guess after such a wait that "Christmas has now come early"!

Should have said, they are my local, I am sure me "collecting and looking after" that little lot for you would count as "an essential journey"   >:D >:D >:D

Enjoy
