Post by: Doc Pye on November 04, 2020, 10:42:58 PM
Hi all,

Does anyone do a GWR style 0-4-0 Saddle tank loco in N???

Like this one:

https://railsofsheffield.com/products/30249/heljan-1301-oo-gauge-gwr-1361-class-0-6-0-tank-locomotive-no-1363-in-gwr-green-monogram-insignia?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI6pXM3vrp7AIVj-7tCh0vVA6LEAQYAiABEgLou_D_BwE

If not a RTR, what are the other options???

Thanks in advance.

I'm not aware of anything like the Heljan 1361 in your link. The only N gauge RTR 0-6-0 saddle tank I can think of would be the Farish Austerity (a.k.a. J94). Many years ago Peco used to make a white metal body kit for an 0-4-0 GWR saddle tank to fit an Arnold chassis, I don't know what class it was supposed to represent. Also I think Shapeways make a 3D printed body kit for an 0-4-0 Peckett type saddle tank, not sure what chassis it requires though.

RTR 0-4-0 are few and far between in N Gauge. How about modifiying and respray a Tomix Percy?

There are options out there if you're happy to kit build with examples here: https://www.nbrasslocos.co.uk/xn28501.html (https://www.nbrasslocos.co.uk/xn28501.html)
