Just noticed C & M models are planning a rerun of their Mark 3 Scotrail livery coaches.
The only unfortunate thing is the coaches are numbered the same as the previous "limited edition" ones. this is a shame because I would have bought a second set with different numbers.

Got to say, not for me at all but this grabbed me as I think it represents a good sign for N gauge in the U.K.
However, I would be annoyed as well at the lack of number change and especially annoyed if I had paid over the odds on a certain auction site.
But overall, it's a good thing.

Makes a mockery of the term "limited edition" and probably contravenes retail legislation.
Hi Speaking to Mike today and Mk 3 sets are pre booking very well. He is contacted folk who back in 2013 !!! ( all good things worth waiting for ! ) ordered DBSO - he has several dozen folk to contact .
If you want a set of coaches, link in posting above but telephone is
: 01228 514 689 as I could not get link to work.

A possible wait until may 2021 https://candmmodels.co.uk/ be interesting if this gets off the ground . Hope this helps robert
Hi , From way Mike was talking it was an order placed with Dapol and the May 2021 was the result of allocation of factory production time, given Mk3s in production for HST sets and moulds for buffer fitted loco stock available then getting bits together for a build easy enough.
It does seem to affect all according to reports that some migration patterns have changed in China and has suffered issues in re hiring after the fall out from Covid 19 closures - I guess no furlough schemes in China! Might be why dates pushed so far .
Also plays into the hands of folk with multiple sets to make a few wonga on evilbay for a little longer ...!
Generally announcing a new run is enough to kill that market - you've got to really be impatient to pay over the odds when a new run is due!
njee 20,
True but we live in unusual times! The best part is the BR blue/ grey scotrail is not to be repeated as attention to detail was not matched and Dapol had stock left over ! - the numbers and location of legend followed earlier batches and was a non seller. I picked one coach for a tenner last week of evil bay as a starting point for another project.
Hopefully Bachfar hs not changed paint spec on DBSO as that will see the feathers fly ... Hopefully a DBSO will get back to China for the Dapol facility to match as happened with the 47/7.
happy modelling.

That's interesting, so the Scotrail 47/7 matches well with these MK3s then? Farish should keep those colours for the DBSO and presume if the same Dapol factory is involved they would have that colour on file?

C&M have said that in order to speed things up literally nothing is changing compared to the last run. Same paint specs, same running numbers.
There was a bit of gnashing of teeth on RMWeb that they weren't even offering different numbers, but there was no movement.
So no, no DBSO going to China. Hopefully it'll match. Farish have an immeasurably better record than Dapol on getting colours 1) right and 2) consistent, so hopefully it'll be alright.
Hi
Yes way back this thread it was noted that colours matched and I would hope/expect that colour matching will continue but a big guess that the same paint mixers and same factories in use , certainly some factories have changed for both ranges, The company that own Bachamann moved site a while back and so quite likely differing folk and machines but certainly pre production pictures looked good. So I have every expectation will be a spot on match. Given that real things differed a bit over time it might be a bit OCD to expect 100% match - just really good if it does. back to the bench for some G1 work , happy modelling.
Even if C&M had released their Scotrail Mk3s with different numbers, you'd still have identically numbered DBSO unless one rake used a miss-matched blue/grey one or you wait years for a rerun.

Or simply renumber the DBSO? One vehicle renumbered is cheaper than renumbering a rake of coaches.
Took delivery of my ScotRail run coaches today so have now got two sets.
Livery application is exactly the same as before and everything looks good. The numbers are the same as before but equally there has only been one DBSO and 47/7.
Composite is fitted with a First Class interior which was ideal for me as I want to backdate a CO to a FO.
Now the real reason for the review, the rerun have the correct roofs :claphappy:
In the Past Dapol offered a roof with a single large square vent which is correct for the HST and MK3B coaches. When Dapol tooled the prototype HST they included the roof with 3 smaller vents as per the Prototypes and MK3A coaches.
The new run of ScotRail MK3A have the correct 3 smaller vent fitted.
This is the first batch of non prototype coaches from Dapol to include the new roofs so hopefully new releases of MK3A coaches will include the revised roof.
Great news they're including the roevac vent roof, given they've made it, hopefully they'll proliferate.
Just got mine and hocked them up with the Grafar dbso. Colours are very close which is great. 4 coaches for £100 cant be bad.
