Title: York Model Show Easter 2012
Post by: Donkey on April 14, 2012, 08:28:01 PM
Just got round to downloading some  :camera: from the York show on Easter monday. Sorry but quite a few were blurred as still getting used to my new camera so have not included them. This was the first show that I have been to and both I and SWMBO thoroughly enjoyed it. There was a great selection of layouts, trade stands and modelling demonstrations. Of course we paid most attention to the  :NGAUGE: layouts and to say they were good would be a massive understatement. Thanks must go to the organisers for a great day and to all the exhibitors, traders and demonstrators who were all very friendly and helpful

Always great to see peoples pictures from the shows.  I like the underground train, and some cracking layouts.

Hi Marty,

Some very nice photos. I had a good look at them in the Media section. Thanks for putting then on show.

Hi,

I went to York but was somewhat disappointed... Not many N layouts and not many N traders.

What there was a lot of was people with poor / non-existant personal hygiene regimes.

Also lots of people wearing backpacks and smacking other visitors in the face with them when they turned round...

Overall, disappointing. Think I'll save my money for TINGS in future...

Sorry you found it disappointing Flakmunky. Personally I loved it and didn't have any problems with peoples hygeine or backpacks etc. Maybe it was a bit quieter when we went on the monday? Anyway, as it was my first show I was probably running around like an excited child on Christmas morning  ;D. I enjoyed all of the layouts in all gauges so that I could get ideas for scenery etc but obviously enjoyed the  :NGAUGE: most. I am looking forward to attending more shows and will then be able to compare them to York. By the way, is that Copenhagen layout brilliant or what

Yes, Copenhagen was fantastic!

I was there on Saturday lunch time... Maybe that's why; I was in the middle of the stampede!

Really looking forward to TINGS.

I'll declare an interest, having a minor part in the organisation and being there all weekend as an exhibitor (009 - Crumley and Little Wickhill).

Overall I thought it was a good show with a decent selection of layouts, trade towards the modellers rather than the collectors end of the range, and a good atmosphere tinged with a little sadness that Mike Cook couldn't be with us...

On specifics of the N gauge content: Layouts - I would say N had the weakest coverage of the three main scales, but was ably supported by two totally contrasting 2mmFS layouts. Trade - RTR N was a BIG hole caused by the late withdrawal (3 days notice) of a specialist trader due to ill-health.

Hi Marty, from the photos, the show looked OK to me! Living where I do, I don't have a chance to get to see Copenhagen Fields (yet alone the Blue Bell in Yarm....!) except by photos and videos. Please tell me - what was that layout in the last couple of photos? I have been posting a bit of stuff about modelling Crosti-boilered 9F's of late, and that sure looks like one on the siding in that second off last photo! I'd be interested to know the name of that layout, it looks pretty good.

Cheers George  :beers:

Oh, and one more question... was the underground on Copenhagen Fields working or just static? Oh, and another... were the trams moving on the Caledonian Road?

Cheers George
