Title: The brown sticky stuff might strike the rotating thingy before Xmas chez Nobby
Post by: Newportnobby on October 08, 2020, 04:19:10 PM
Having seen today the Osborns/Cheltenham Models limited edition Westerns may arrive in November I'm also expecting the Gaugemaster/Dapol class 73, Farish 8F, 2 x 56xx from RevolutioN/Sonic and possibly, just possibly, having to pay deposits on a couple of Class 128s from RevolutioN if the order book opens. This could be a very expensive last quarter to 2020 on top of a Dapol Hall and a dummy class 121 I've recently bought. Just as well I'm not going out much so meals out, petrol etc are well down.
I dare say some are in a worse/better* position than I am??

Shurrup!

I'm trying not to think about the Osborne's Western, the 8F, the Sonic, Class 128 and the two locos that are currently in someone's paint shop, oh, and god forbid Hattons wheel out the Beyer-Garratt!

Don't worry Mick. I'm sure your family will come up trumps with the gift vouchers again :)

Having had to cancel one Revolution order I am not in a position where I have lots of stuff ordered but not paid for.

On the immediate horizon is the NGS Hunslet, so the balance for that will need to be paid.

Hopefully in the first half of next year is Dapols 50149, but I have no money tied up in that (just a request that I want to honour).

My problem is the amount of stuff I would like that I can't afford and therefore will pass me by only to get more expensive:

C-Rail FSA / FTAs
Revolution PFAs
Farish Intercity MK2s
Farish refurbished 31s

Plus any number of existing releases that are out there....

Oh well, maybe a lotto win  :D

Trouble is, Joe, all the above is likely to be before Chrimble and I've already spent ½ my birthday vouchers.
It's not even as though I could sell body parts as they are all too knackered

At the moment I have only the Sonic on order.  I was planning on a Class 40 and 55 "St Paddy" but decided to hold off for now to see how Q4 plays out with regards to CV19 etc.

On the positive side, it is great to see a raft of British N Gauge releases.

Kind regards

Paddy

Yeah, the coming months are going to be expensive.

I currently have on order an 8F sound fitted, the Sonic models 56xx, the Hattons Beyer-Garratt (have a feeling that won't be for a while), HST Final Days set, Flying Scotsman and Mallard.

Would like to add a Western (not sure which colour), Class 128 once orders are up, a 142 Pacer and many more that are in my Rails wishlist.

Forgot to add would like a NGS Hunslett once they go on general sale for members as I forgot to order one.

I'm in for eight Revolution 92s.  :worried: I can't even remember how many I've paid up front for. I've booked one in with Mercig too for renumbering and weathering. That's going to hurt...

Beyond that I'm actually not too 'exposed' thankfully, although must get in a few orders for FSAs, and the next batch of Pendolinos may not be far away (hopefully) **pulls anxiously at collar**

Have you not learnt the difference between the character "3" and the character "8" yet?  :smiley-laughing:
Must be some mistake, surely (dont call me Surely).

Yeah... I just really like 92s. Didn't want to miss my chance. Repeatedly.  :-[

One isn't even from Revolution - I got non-buyers remorse on a second Caledonian Sleeper one, so agreed to buy someone else's!

:'(

Good news. Checked through my emails, turns out I've paid £75 upfront for each of my Hunslets. That'll soften the blow. Although I never did order the maroon one...

...or one of the oil company ones...

...aw nuts.

I'm in for eight Revolution 92s.

The problem (or benefit) with that is they'll all turn up at the same time. At least mine may be spread over a couple of months although the dosh will still vanish by Xmas.
I'll still be left with some RevolutioN wagons, the class 128s and a few Farish bits next year.
The Dapol Bulleid light pacific? I'm thinking that's just a fictional thing now ::)

Mmm, yes, my credit card is acutely aware of that fact, and is quivering in fear. I was worried the IPAs were going to come at the same time. Then I'd have been selling organs!

I've ordered Revolution Trains' Silverlink 321 and Transpennine Mk5As but fully paid for.
Otherwise I'm now waiting for Farish's Mk2f BSO and TSO in Intercity livery and Dapol's Maunsell high-window TK to be charged to my card.

Well until the five Gaugemaster GM2210205 Network Rail Class 73212 materialise and turn up I'm not pre ordering anything else! Must be getting on for nearly three years now.

Its getting to the point where I feel I could be let down. Its a feeling I could imagine like waiting for that goerges looking date to turn up two hours after she was meant to!  :-[

I have a Revolution 321 on pre-order.

Not a biggie in itself but there is very worrying news regarding the retail chain that I provide IT support for as a contractor (the one who does the tartan and shortbread). If they go under then, most likely, so does the "day job".

Luckily, Electra is going from strength to strength and a career break should allow me to bring lots of projects to fruition and offer some new, non-railway, services.

I'm in a similar boat. I pre-ordered a Farish 40 (D248 sound fitted- just missed tha last batch two years ago) as well a D9001 St Paddy, both from Kernow and both fairly imminent. Having ordered these as I try to populate my Houghton Jaglin layout with east coast main line diversionary power circa 1970-72, I notice the new batch of 47s had landed with 47435 required for backdating- and I then realised the mark2 'aircons' were in too 😮..It's flippin' carnage!

Has anyone heard anything about when the next batch of 142s are expected?

One of  the great things about exhibitions is that I could build up a little stash of cash and come home with a few goodies without the joint bank account seeing anything. Can't do that with online purchases.

I'm still waiting for my 56xx that the boss ordered for me for my 60th birthday (which was last December). If I'm lucky, I might have it for my 61st birthday (this December). Thankfully the boss has paid for it so it's not hurting my pocket  :D

Not to mention re runs of some previous Western liveries (and a couple of new ones) by Dapol, apparently expected September/October. Missed out on the green one first time round.

I had to cancel most of my pre orders as when ordered they arrival was spread out over the year, then due to delay after delay they are now all due in November or possibly December, I have 5 grand children, so can't spend money on my toys at Christmas.

Now only getting the 8F if it ever arrives .

Of course the reality is that many things will actually arrive in the new year, rather than all turning up this year at all.

Supposedly November if the video on the Hornby Magazine website for their Great Virtual Electric Train Show is to go by, with the sound version slightly later.

No need to cancel anything. Buy the loco's you want and when they arrive, take a photograph of the individual loco's. You then give a photograph of a different loco' to each of your five grandchildren for Christmas. Then tell them that that particular loco' belongs to that particular grandchild, but it has to stay on the layout for safety, but they can see it running when they visit. Easy.  ;)
