Title: RAL code and Rattle Can Equivalents for BR Crimson
Post by: Bob G on August 22, 2020, 10:50:59 AM
I think I'm correct in saying RailMatch do BR Crimson in a Rattle Can, as well as in a jar.

But does anyone know the RAL number for the colour, for a NGS helpline question, and is there a Halfords equivalent?

TIA
Bob

Warren Haywood cites RAL 3003 or 3004 as a match for BR Crimson.

There is a list of Halfords colour matches here https://www.rafkinlossmrc.co.uk/info.html (https://www.rafkinlossmrc.co.uk/info.html)

That's brilliant. Thank you :)

(for anyone wondering why they dont buy Railmatch, you cant easily ship paint overseas).

Royal Mail does permit water-based paints to be posted abroad, so there are a few UK retailers will ship Railmatch acrylics overseas.

Vauxhall Carmine Red is a pretty good match for BR Crimson. Here are a couple of coaches I have painted with this colour. The Restaurant coach alongside the RTR Dapol Collett shows that this is a pretty good match for Dapol's version of this shade. Farish seem to have a darker shade from Crimson that does not actually look quite right to my eye.
