Hey !
Who moved the August goalposts ???
Bachmann ?
Non comprende.
Forum? ???
The Donations target has gone up is what I think he is referring to.
Think he means the August Forum donations presumably to fund the updates.
Edit. Martin beat me to it.

Great minds think alike
Oh, ok, that had me flummoxed for a minute.
I'll check with @Tank (https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=2)
Updates cost a lot of money.....! :( Every time there is an error there are £££'s to pay.

Hi
Upgrades I can understand but surely errors (bug fixes, etc) are covered by your maintenance contract.
Cheers
Paul
We have a maintenance contract?!?! :D No, we don't have one. I just pay out when problems occur which I don't understand. Thankfully these are rare!
Are above, we're seeing a huge influx from 'bots' which are slowing down the server, but the forum and database are the ones that are taking the brunt. It looks like we'll have to block certain parts of the world to get around it... :(
That fits in with my recent experience. Our home internet slowed to a crawl, with many sites timing out. Investigation showed that our home server was being targeted - they didn't get in, but the overhead of the router dealing with constant attempts was enough. Apart from one attempt from Rumania and a small number from Vietnam, all of them came from China.

We don't have BAPS in Lancashire - we have BARMS :P
(Just so you know not to walk into a Lancashire bakers and ask the lady to see her baps)

They always had em at Greenhalgh's when I were a lad.
Barms, Baps, and Oven Bottom Muffins.
BTW, I can't be doing with Gregg's. At least not in Lancashire ;)

It's got to be Saffron Buns or Hevva Cake down here.

Thanks for the explanation. New target achieved.
Quote, I can't be doing with Gregg's
How do greggs get away with calling themselves a bakers? we've got 2 in the town and a third on the outskirts, and in neither will you find a loaf or unfilled roll, lukewarm pastys and slices? yes, sugar filled cakes-?yes, unsliced batch loaf? no chance, only option is to visit the supermarkets.
Could be worse.... you could have the drunken bakers from Viz magazine
This is getting silly!
Back on topic please...
There's not really a topic anymore! Upgrades cost money, and, thanks to our members, the August goal is achieved!

As the instigator, I feel this topic has run its course. Can it be closed?
Done. :locked:
Just a sneaky reply (as the thread is locked!) to say THANK YOU for everyone donating. The problems seem to have been solved and normal service resumed.
We were being attacked by a lot of 'bots' from other countries who trawl through the website, and they therefore slow the website right down. These have been blocked and some changes made. Hopefully no members have been blocked in the process!
Again, thank you for your support with this.
