Title: Bogie identification?
Post by: Delboy on May 24, 2020, 03:21:55 PM
Can anyone please identify the un-named plastic bogie below with the split spigot and tell me if and where I can purchase some?
Thanks in advance.

That's an old Lima bogie from their British N coaches.  Long out of production, you'll need to hunt around for a second hand scrap model to replace it.

There are usually plenty on ebay and on second hand stalls at shows, somewhat cheaper than the ebay example I've linked to below.

Not popular models these days as they were under-scale, but maybe ok "cheap and cheerful" coaches when starting out.  The wheels are a bit "pizza cutter" and were not always the smoothest/truest running.

How about DNA profiling??

Oops, wring kind of bogie...

Edit. On a slightly more serious note I have had a rummage through my accumulated rubbish..I mean cherished spares but do not have one. However if it helps the same bogie is also used on the Lima Siphon.

Thanks for your prompt replies.
Thought I would fill you in on my reason for asking. I know nothing about rolling stock bogie assemblies and was trying to 3D print a suitable low profile wagon to use as a FPV camera carriage. I found a pair of these bogies in my spares drawer and thought I would design a wagon to suit them. Having done this successfully, my thoughts turned, in the future, to to making my own 3D printed rolling stock, I wondered what these were and if I could acquire more.
From your responses, it seems my best bet is to try and acquire information of the available bogie assemblies and how to attach them to any future rolling stock. All further info will be well appreciated.

I'm pretty sure I've got plenty of Lima Siphon bogies somewhere. They are no use to me but I'm happy to give them to someone who can use them.

Hi @johnlambert (https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=2419)
John, I could give them a good home as I would like to 3D print some suitable chassis for myself.
May I PM you my address and obviously would cover the cost of P & P.
Regards Dennis.
