Title: A couple of Farish Class 91 and MK4s Questions
Post by: BertFredStan on April 21, 2020, 11:22:39 AM
Just got hold of a 91 and DVT in GNER livery.

The roof of the 91 either looks a little too low, or the MK4s are a little too high. Does anyone know which is which, and has anyone tried to remedy this in any way? We're talking probably only 0.5mm out from looking okay.

Is there a guide/photos on how to perform the buffer mod on the front of the 91?

Thanks!

Yeah, it is a little lower. Don't have the prototype specs, maybe it is real? I have been meaning to do the buffer mod but i think it is pretty simple, just unclip from the bogie, remove the coupling and glue onto the bodyshell.

As far as I can tell the loco's roof is slightly lower in reality. However, the difference is disproportionate in the model. I've just been looking at some 5.6mm Kato wheelsets to put on the MK4s (rather than the Farish 6.2mm) which might be a reasonable tradeoff. If they're too low, I can always put a little packing on the bogies.
