Title: Osborns shunters truck
Post by: exmouthcraig on April 12, 2020, 08:39:50 AM
Morning All, happy Easter to you  :beers:

Looking through all the pictures we have and theres a Z class (I already have the exact one  :laugh3:) in a couple of photos it has a shunters truck.

According to extracts from some books these were never favoured for work on the SR however a picture cant lie.

It looks very similar to Osborns 'OCWW OB001 N Gauge r.t.r. GWR Shunters Truck' which I'm more then happy to purchase to have as a 'near enough'

BUT

When the pre-orders for the cranes were released I questioned the build quality of them, for which I was berated even though it was confirmed the pictures were sample mock ups rather then the finished product. I never did get an apology off the original berator  I did however purchase a crane from Maurice and very VERY pleased with it I am!!

So I am interested in knowing if anyone owns one or has seen a finished product to tell me how good it is and totally different to the website pictures.

:thankyousign:

Sorry, my Photographic composition With the tractor behind the truck leaves a lot to be desired.

I think it's got to be worth a punt, might high build primer her and see about flatting her out a bit.

I will make an order!!!

Not sure you need to flat it out. It even has a planking finish on the wooden box.

Close-ups of our N gauge stock never does it any favours, but here is mine:

IMHO the 3D printed truck definitely needed some attention though.  Obviously not to the level of removing intended detail, and also bearing in mind what can be seen at a normal viewing distance.....

I'm not knocking it, like I said, am very happy with mine.
All the best

Cheers Pete, yeah I know what you mean about it, chatting to Nick who 3d prints, theres alot of limitations as to finesse and thickness of parts.

I'm wondering if anyone on the 2FS scene knows of a kit from them????
