Title: Cricket?
Post by: Bealman on February 06, 2020, 08:49:32 AM
Watching Melbourne Stars vs Sydney Thunder....

Also known as "The Big Bash" or 20/20.
To paraphrase Bones from Star Trek,

"It's cricket Jim, but not as we know it"  ;D

I don't mind the 50 over stuff but largely  draw the line at 20/20.
However, good on cricket for trying to keep up with modern times.

Love Test Cricket, 50 over stuff can be tedious at times in the middle overs, don't mind T20 as a bit of fun. Totally bemused and befuddled by the new Hundred game, jury is out on that one i'm afraid.

The Big Bash League 09 winner might be decided by the weather here in Sydney on Saturday night. Rain is forecast (we absolutely need as much as we can get!), but if no play is possible, I understand the Sydney Sixers will win over the Melbourne Stars.

I've watched the BBLs over the past 3 years and am finding it somewhat entertaining. I think the season is getting a little long now with 15 games each, but it has been good to see the local and international talent on display. I watch the ladies cricket as well. England and India teams are down under at the moment in a tri-nations T20 series. "Playing like a girl" is a complement these days in so many sports.

Those lady cricketers can play better than I could ever hope to, and I certainly wouldn't like to face one of their bowlers!!

Watched a bit of the charity match this afternoon - Gilchrist XI vs Ponting XI. Mixed teams, male and female.

Very entertaining, in fact a bit of fun which I enjoyed better than the real thing!
