Title: Modelling acrylic exact colour paint mixing????
Post by: exmouthcraig on February 01, 2020, 10:24:41 AM
 :helpneededsign:

On a small project I'm working on I'm after a particular colour green to allow me to tie all small details together.

Does anyone know who or where can mix me a small pot of acrylic paint that I can then airbrush and hand brush my details???

I can either get them to scan a piece of the exact green or contact the company direct to see if they can give me the exact paint code.

I dont think B&Q wall emulsion will be good enough , and halfords will only mix 400ml spray can but that's no good for the detail bits

Thinking laterally, if you can get the right colour mixed from Halfords, couldn't you spray some from the can into a mixing pot, thin as required and apply it using your airbrush or hand brush?

 :hmmm: I guess so.

I've never tried spraying that much out of a rattle can to know I could do that.

I'll email the company and try to get the paint code.

I'm not sure that'd work satisfactorily. Prepared to be wrong, but I can imagine having a very messy mixing cup!

A long shot, but is there a green maybe in the Hycote range of acrylic rattle cans that matches the green you require? Much cheaper than Halfords, I get mine in Trago Mills. Are you in Devon exmouthcraig?

Hycote do an extensive range of car colours some of which are very near matches for railway colours. I use their Vauxhall burgundy red for my LMS coaches.

Trago Mills  ;D we struggle to pass it every time were in Falmouth as theyve ALWAYS got a carpet delivery and 800 people desperate to get inside even though the path is only 1m wide!!!

I've found a set of acrylic paints under the desk that are probably only a couple of years old bought from The Works most still have the foil seal on the ends of the tubes so I'm going to have a play with mixing a couple of them to see if I can find a suitable match, I doubt it will be exact but it will be near enough.

Not devon anymore @trkilliman (https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=2838) I'm in Melton Mowbray now, my folks have a place in Exmouth
