From Hattons:-
Dapol new releases announced today
N Gauge Class 27
Dapol's latest N gauge announcement is their Class 27 diesel. Built by the Birmingham Railway Carriage and Wagon company (BRCW) between 1961 and 1962, 69 of the Bo-Bo locomotives were manufactured for use originally in Glasgow Eastfield, Thornaby and London Cricklewood regions. The Class 27s were gradually transferred to Leicester and later all ended up in service in Scotland, extensively on the West Highland Line. The diesels, a successor of the Class 26, were introduced to allow the withdrawal of the poorly performing Class 17 Clayton diesels, but were eventually withdrawn from service themselves in 1987, being outlived by the less-powerful and more reliable Class 26s.
4 variations have been announced by Dapol in BR green and blue liveries. Priced at £89 the models feature their tried and tested Class 26 chassis with 'super creep' motor and low friction mechanism, Dapol's 'easi-shunt' magnetic couplers and are DCC ready.
ND205a   Class 27 #D5381 in BR Green with small yellow warning panel (with gangway doors)   Pre-order now for £89
ND205b   Class 27 #D5411 in BR Green with full yellow front end (with gangway doors)   Pre-order now for £89
ND205c   Class 27 #27008 in BR Blue (plated gangway doors)   Pre-order now for £89
ND205d   Class 27 #27032 in BR Blue (plated gangway doors)   Pre-order now for £89

there goes my savings again! i'll have to have a 27 especially since my class 26 got lost in the mail and hattons sold out before they could resend another.
Do you think there is room for sound in the class 56 as first advised months ago

I think Dapol are trying to make all their new products "sound friendly". Dapol Dave seems quite keen on DCC sound and it wouldn't surprise me to see Dapol be the first to offer a DCC fitted loco in N gauge.

I've known about the class 27 for a while now (advantage of my job ;) ) and i think it is a very logical step to follow the class 26. How long before a new 33 follows......

As with DCC, personally i can't see Dapol binging out DCC Fitted locos purely as they don't do DCC Chips. Maybe they'll announce a range in the new catalogue?

Ooh, now there's a lovely thought.  But first, where's my Western Venturer!?

Excellent news about the .... O gauge Gronk.

Sorry to use the wrong letter and all :-[ but Is Dapol bringing out an O gauge Gronk?  If not, who is?  And when?  I would love a diorama with one of those all weathered and oily, with a dirty wagon hitched up to it.

200 quid is a lot less than a brass one!  Looking forward to that for sure.

I agree Scruff, it would be great to see it in N too.  If Dapol can do their detail magic on it I will be replacing my 08 640 on Reading General.

A very innaccurate view of history. Firstly the 27s were a development of the 26, not successor! Secondly if they were built in 1961-62 how could they replace poorly performing Class 17s that were built from 1962-65? That would have taken some heavy crystal ball gazing! Who writes this stuff?

I may be wrong, but wasn't the Peco 22xx the first DCC fitted N gauge model ???

O gauge is getting some excellent releases lately if you like BR blue diesels...... Heljan are releasing a lot (Deltic, class 31, Westerns) and now Dapol are going for O gauge too with the class 08.

£450 for a diesel loco and 230 for a Mk1 coach is just too expensive though....

It was the first British one (I believe there were already continental and american stuff that was dcc) but lets not forget as of last year there is also a Class 24 which is DCC Ready, the one in the DCC Commuter set.

That's my phone camera over-exposing the BR logo.  :) The real thing looks very good indeed, with a properly rendered logo.

I will definitely buy an LNER flying Scotsman and an A4 Mallard. I may even consider the class 56. Especially if they produce one in EWS livery, excellent pictures thanks for sharing.

Have they said any release dates for the A3?

Dapol Dave relates he may request a subtle tweaking of the cab front windows but my concern was with the cab side windows, but maybe its just me. That said, please take into account they are pre prod samples and the decor was off the Mark.
All i can say is i will be having half a dozen. nuff said!

Wow, those A3's look good!

Nice to see the earlier error regarding the dome position has been corrected. Love the lining out on the LNER examples, shame the front of the steam pipe isn't black to match the smoke box though...

Overall, these really do put my Farish A3 conversions of the Gresley A1 and A3 classes to shame! Good thing I've got one on order with Rails!

Now if only the A4 came with valances, tomorrow's trip to Ally Pally would've been expensive then!

I was rather hoping for a 33. The 27 is a bit of  me2 product after the 26. Then again the 26s sold well suggesting that something very close would also be good (same with the 121 and 122 I guess).

A class 33 fairly soon would have to be a sound bet given all the SR stuff that is coming along. Transition era modellers are going to want something diesel to run alongside all those bulleid pacifics.

The Farish class 33 body is actually pretty good. It's just about spot-on accuracy-wise and any upgrade detail is very straightforward and easy; adding wire handrails, quarter light glazing bar, etc. It's the chassis, bogie and belly detail that is the huge let down but then accurate replacement motor chassis' are available.

BTW, apparently the class 56 will probably available in shops in about three months. The versions on display were roughly painted samples and they want to tweak the colours to be accurate.

Farish news was even less forthcoming than Dapol - Colin was ill and not there. The autoballasters, FNA, class 20 and many others were disappointingly still in grey primer although the Desiro was in a finished livery and looked very nice. The new Mk1 and full brakes were on sale from some traders but on-one had the GUVs.
