Good morning Forum, here's hoping not too many bad heads this morning!!!!!
Well it seems after bringing my good lady virtually to tears with endless research and the odd expenditure :-[ every now and again, she really does listen.
Christmas eve she shut herself away in the dining room and all I heard was endless cutting of paper, attempts at singing to the radio and a few huffing and puffing sessions followed by her striding across into the lounge with a roll of sellotape and no end!!!!!!!
This only happened because I used most of the dispenser attached tape the night before wrapping her presents. It take dodgy sized rolls and we dont have any spares so I got in first :laughabovepost:
Inbetween all of my dinner preparations we actually opened our presents in front of the lounge fire this year and my lot kept coming and coming.
Clearly all my useless rambles to her didn't go unnoticed as this is what I received

And I must say I was more then happy with what shed managed to work out what I needed and wanted. Yes I have no static grass glue but my model shop (that does have it on the shelf is open tomorrow)
I've never been a fan of Jason Plato in the 25years I've followed the BTCC BUT happy to admit my opinion of him this year is changing, hes still a marmite character but as I'm getting older I understand the passion, pressure and desires people have and hes definitely someone I would shake hands with and spend a few hours chatting too, others in the paddock have now taken his undesirable place!! So I'm hoping it will be a good read.
A fairly quiet day for us today work wise so I might even get a few hours on the layout sorting through photos and trying to decide which tree best matches that one!!!
I hope you all had a great day yesterday and you did get what you wanted!!
Morning Craig,
Head's not too bad. Myself and the good lady both, due to work on her part and some work but mainly laziness on mine, have most of our presents to each other arriving in the next few days as they were ordered on line too late. The good news is we're going to have a New Years Eve present opening party at home so something to look forward to :claphappy:.
However, I did get a Minitrix SNCF locomotive, tested last night and runs lovely , Bombay Sapphire Gin :), a scratchcard which won £20 :claphappy: and lots of chocolate so I'm a happy bunny.
Happy Hangover Day to all.
Cheers weave :beers:
Some old magazines and pamphlets from my daughter;
'New light on the locomotive exchanges' CJ Allen published 1950
'Railway World' July 1971-the announcement of Clapham museum closing and the proposals for the new York museum (which didn't go down too well.....). Adverts include 'A rail tour from Paddington to the Dart Valley Railway' fare £.2.50 or £4.35 first class.
'Steam locomotives; a retrospect of the work of eight great locomotive engineers' by the BTC, 1955.
Borough of Chesterfield; 'George Stephenson centenary commemoration' 12-28/8/1948.
Quirky or what?
But especially the CJ Allen booklet has some surprising conclusions, not always in agreement with what was written immediately after the trials when the data hadn't been properly analysed.

Having trained my relatives years ago to get me Rails of Sheffield vouchers I now have enough to afford the Farish 8F (when it appears ::)) along with some choccy biccies and a book on the Tour de France + a Green Bay Packers mug from a certain fellow member in Fife.
Lubbly Jubbly! :)
I got (another) book by Clive Lamming, the French railway history guru, about the various jobs done by railwaymen since the early days.
Lovely photo of a Great NORTHERN Railway King Class loco
I was finally allowed to open the Poole Farish 8F, courtesy of the @Newportnobby (https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=264) megastore. :beers: (Which, I have to say, hauls a far longer train than the current Farish WD does...) And I was given a new hat to replace the much-loved, but old and misshapen titfer that has been relegated to dog-walking duties this many a year. Plus the odd bottle of grown-up grape juice and some cash to spend.
Cheers,
Chris
NOWT, Zero, Zilch apart from I did get 1 card and phone call from a cousin
I had a Peco annual from my lovely Wifey, but nothing else. To be fair though there hasn't been anything that I actually wanted which meant the surprise delivery of the RevolutioN Sturgeons pre-Christmas was a mega bonus and really appreciated.

I managed to lose over a pound in weight over Christmas Day, probably through worrying about my mother who has spent her first Christmas day with us since she entered a local care home (she has dementia). It all went well enough but the stress levels were very high - but we still managed to have about ten hours sleep, waking up at 9.45 on Boxing Day!!!
Happy to wait for the Sturgeons as my Christmas treat, and am aiming to put the pound back on today :) Bubble and squeak day :)

Living in a country where Christmas has been "lost in translation", so to speak, an orgy of Christmas giving fails to take place apart from little presents for kiddies. So I treated myself to something from Kato:

I got the usual Choccies, smellies etc plus a Arnold Hornby Brighton Belle (With one buffer missing Grr) and some spending vouchers to go towards the Farish 8F when it eventually arrives.

Oh that's really bad luck. Returns time I guess, as manufacturers are no good at sending out parts.

I got some railway books from number one son, and some Metcalfe kits and Oxford vehicles from my daughter.
My wife bought me the Revolution KUA's.
But the biggest surprise present was the birth of our 2nd granddaughter on Saturday 21st.
She was very early, 25 weeks, but is doing well on a specialist neonatal unit in Oldham.
Regards,
John P
Some N scale items posted in another thread on here, a few books and one railroad related game on Steam. Also got several large photo collages of my older railfan photos in a frame..should look nice once I get all of them up in the train room. Also got a CBJ shirt too.

Nothing..
With the family scattered round the UK / world, it got ridiculous paying the postman to send stuff we didn't want, so we've all given it up, except for sending to those still at school, which is currently 3 . However it won't be long before there are more..

Bubble and squeak day :)
Sadly every day is one of those for me :-[
The usual alcohol, books, DVDs and chocolate for me - oh, and an Anycubic Photon 3D printer and resin :claphappy:
The Bealettes asked me what I wanted, and I said just some money to put towards something or other, but they said it defeats the purpose of having the family present thing on Christmas morning, and pestered me until I gave in and said OK, this:

Which I'd secretly wanted for ages anyhow, so I now have yet another power supply for my non-existant workbench. I mean that, by the way - my old workbench, the breakfast bar, was demolished to make way for the New kitchen design.
Anyway, still cool. :beers:
Santa was kind , the girls all got new outfits , and surprisingly he left a Farish Castle & de-coder :)
mr B & the girls
Santa delivered on my hints.
Farish class 20 in BR blue & a Scenecraft fuelling point. Yaaaay!
Iain
:Class37:
Slightly unusual one for me as I had actually snagged all my very generous N gauge presents at TINGS and Warley (Intercity Mk1s and Poppylino respectively), so nothing of a real surprise on that front.
However, mother dearest sent me a cheque towards the Pendo and as a nice surprise the in-laws also contributed.
Sister in law contributed to my Marvel films collection (I am not high-brow when it comes to Cinema) and I also got some much appreciated special thermal gear for my cycling commute.
Also, a big box of choccy bars which will get me through January :)
Skyline2uk
Oh...and Mini Skyline got my ticket to go see "The Rise of Skywalker", which was enjoyed on Friday
