Title: Trix Coupling Change
Post by: French Roger on October 31, 2019, 03:44:47 PM
I have a beautiful set of  6 Trix Pullman coaches which couple together nicely , but constantly uncouple from the locomotive. The problem appears to be the actual u spring type coupling just opens. Does any one have expeience of changing these couplings for standard NEM Couplings ? if so how to go about it.

Hi, I'm not quite understanding you?  Are you saying the Minitrix stock has standard Rapido hook couplings but they are the "T-shank and spring" design rather than NEM?  That really shouldn't be a problem, it's a perfectly reliable design and no need to change for NEM pockets. The vast majority of my stock has T-shanks.

Have you checked to see if a particular coupling is riding low or high?

Post some photos of the problem?

"U-bend" couplings (as I know them) which have a U shaped bend in the shaft and no actual spring, were a very old Graham Farish design not Minitrix - they wouldn't fit a Minitrix T-Shank pocket.   You mention "Pullman":  Farish made Pullmans with those U bend couplings, or are you talking about continental coaches?
