Hi @bigmac (https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=847)

I bought one new - King John if memory serves.  It is very similar to the original GF Castle on which it is based.  It has a new front bogie and smoke box.  The rest is basically the same as the Castle.  You can get a King with single or double chimney.

The King works well alongside other original Farish locos but it rather crude by today's standards.  You can add tender pick-ups to improve running (kits are available from BR Lines).

Bottom line, until someone releases a new King it is the only show in town. 😉

Hope this helps.

Paddy

I always preferred the Foxhunter kit body on the Farish chassis.

It's a shame Lima never made the King in N that they advertised in catalogues, but then again it would have been as poor a runner as their tender-drive 4F, so maybe not a shame at all  :D :D

And would probably have been 1/152 scale
