Title: Only in Japan...
Post by: railsquid on September 05, 2019, 04:32:19 PM
... do you see N gauge used by television news to recreate events, in this case a rather unfortunate accident involving a large truck stuck on a level crossing in the path of an approaching express (https://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/en/news/20190905_39/).

One of the news channels came up with this hands-on reproduction:

They even got the train right (or close enough) and apologize for using a 4-car model when the actual train had 8 cars.

My Japanese must be improving - I could actually understand that video!  :D

Sorry to hear that the truck driver died, though.

If anyone's interested, there's a livecam covering the recovery operation:

That is the clearest live Cam I've seen. Crystal.

Shame the subject matter is a bit depressing, like.

Seems to be a bit of crane ballet going on involving 4 different sized cranes.

In the current view the remaining car is visible to the left of the leftmost crane. In the background there's a Keikyu depot with a bunch of trains stables which won't be going out this rush hour, and behind those JR trains can be seen running.
