Title: Old American Log Train

I was sent these pictures and I though some on here would find them interesting  ;)

When the Northwest logging industry was still young.

Just look at the length of the hand saw they needed

Look at the size of the heavy duty axes

The work required very strong and courageous men

After a tree was felled the real work began - a week or more to cut it up

Manoeuvering the logs down the mountain to the train was a complex job

Some of the logs were larger than the train engine

A hollowed out log became the company's mobile office

Hollowed out logs were also used to house and feed the crews

Although not as early as the pictures John this video gives an idea how tough to cut down the trees is ........

That film came out the year I was born - 1952, no wonder it looks a bit ragged  :evil:  :smiley-laughing:  :smiley-laughing:

Would have to saw up some chair legs to model those trees in N. Or maybe use toilet roll centres, suitably coated and painted.
