Title: Graham Farish Inspection Saloon
Post by: exmouthcraig on August 07, 2019, 05:48:49 PM
 :helpneededsign:

Courtesy of Mick @Newportnobby (https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=264) (sorry mick your getting alot of blame from me at the moment  :sorrysign:) highlighting the sale at Model Rail direct I jumped at the chance of an Inspection saloon for a mere £18.99.

However mine is not to remain as GF intended so I need to take her apart. Problem is how do I do that?

Pull off the bogies, NO screws.

Give the body a jiggle, NO movement

Don't want to touch the roof with those wonderful handrails all around the roof edge.

She might of been half price but I don't want to break her.

Thank you!! Craig

Unfortunately, if you want to get inside, the roof has to come off... disconnect the handrails at the lower end and leave them attached to the roof - the wire is pushed into holes in the body ends, usually minimally glued, so they come out easily with light leverage with a small screwdriver or knife blade near the end.

Cheers Chris,  :thankyousign: all stripped into parts.

Hell knows what glue GF stuck the windows in because they are tough BUT all in bits and body shell about to be stripped ready for work to commence

Thanks @PLD (https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=647) all stripped. Managed to keep handrails attached to roof and pinged out body ends like suggested

Hand rails and glazing were prised out using a modelling spade. It's a double ended tool with a little bucket on 1 end perfect for scooping up real coal and weathering powders and a proper Ace of Spades on the other with a nice chisel point.

Plenty of careful levering and she finally succumbed with NO breakage........somehow  :laugh3:
