Title: Bertie the Bus
Post by: PWayman on June 18, 2019, 12:37:53 PM
I am building a Thomas the Tank layout for my grandson and am trying to find a suitable half cab single deck bus to represent Bertie. A long internet search has come up with nothing. The bus does not need to look exactly as depicted in the books but I would like a red one. Has anybody any suggestions?

ERTL did some diecast characters but I think they are 1:64 scale so may be too big. You may find a Bertie keyring of a suitable size or alternatively a double decker and cut the top off and do a new roof.

Langley Miniature Models do a Leyland Tiger coach which may be adaptable to your requirements... http://www.langleymodels.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Vehicle_kits__lorries__cranes__vans_etc_NEW_KITS_64.html (http://www.langleymodels.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Vehicle_kits__lorries__cranes__vans_etc_NEW_KITS_64.html)

Cheers,

You don't say what scale...

Assuming N, you won't fine anything suitable ready made, so are looking at kits. I'd suggest the  PD Marsh Bristol LW (http://www.pdmarshmodels.com/show_product.php?pid=299)
Less expensive and easier build than the Langley Leyland linked above...

One of these might work https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F233235259619 (https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F233235259619)

You could contact the seller to get them to measure Bertie.

I bought some similar ones and cut off the faces to add to ‘normal’ rolling stock to make up a Thomas train.
