Title: Forbidden 403 help!!!
Post by: weave on May 12, 2019, 11:16:31 AM
Hi all,

I know this is the wrong place to post but I can't access the forum directly as it comes up Forbidden 403. The only way I can get in is through the sub boards of 'discussion' or 'layout construction'.

Any help greatly appreciated and please don't move to 'computer help' as won't be able to read it.

Cheers weave  :beers:

Try logging out of the forum, clear your cache and cookies then try logging in again

That's easy to say but if you dont know what that means at a practical level then you are stuffed.

I would also like to know how to do this, as it is often happens with EBay for example.

It varies slightly depending on which browser you are using, but if you type   clear cache    into Google, instructions are there for the different browsers.  I must admit, I used to wonder what 'clear cache' meant.

In Firefox, click Tools on the menu bar at the top, then Options, then Privacy & Data on the left, scroll down a little and you'll see Cookies & Site Data. From there you can clear your cache, cookies etc.

I would imagine other browsers are similar.

Hi all,

Thanks for the help. My wife knows how to get rid of the cache and cookies but apparently it means I'll loose my 'saved' passwords (of which I have a few and can't remember which is which ) but will have a think and try later as she's gone out for the afternoon.

Cheers weave  :beers:

If I found my browser cached my passwords (or any other sensitive or personal data,) it wouldn't be my browser any longer! I do have confidence in modern systems and browsers that save account profiles, including passwords, encrypted in the cloud.

Applying updates will only get you so far. Now and again one needs to upgrade or replace!
