taped the 3hr version from last night, and just watched 1/2 of it over lunch. I preferred it to the Ghan one, but that could be because we were on the Kimberly cruise which is being shown next week and got to meet the production team and saw the work which went into producing it.
Dont think i will be up for the 17hr version.

Watched the last 45 minutes of it yesterday evening. Very relaxing - almost therapeutic. The IP had just reached Bathurst when I tuned in, so once it got into the Blue Mountains I recognised all the locations. Would have loved to see the whole thing though! Instead I spent the first two hours of this programme comforting an upset six year old!

And at the very end as it pulled into platform 1 central, some of my fire crew can be seen.. they were tasked with removing cameras. Not sure why we got the job
The BBC broadcast the 3hr version of The Ghan towards the end of last year in the UK.
All my mum's family are spread between Adelaide and Newcastle, mostly through RAAF locations. Dad wants to take The Ghan next time their over there so thought it was worth a watch.
It was a well produced film with plenty of scenery and information relating to the journey it takes through the cities, or so i thought.
I'll never be able to get the cash or time to get over there to take a mind blowing journey on it so the next best thing was sat on my sofa watching it.

In the last couple of days, I've watched them both in their entirety, very enjoyable.
I was more than a little surprised that in almost six hours of viewing, not one kangaroo did I see. They're obviously camera shy. The videos were nicely done with no inane commentary, but lots of helicopter and drone shots. Does anyone know long each driver's shift is, and do they always stop to change drivers?
