Title: Old TV adverts
Post by: Matthew-peter on March 01, 2012, 05:05:39 PM
Howdy all, just been watching some old TV adverts(my cousin was watching them in the same room as me) and this one came up
Yellow Pages Hornby advert 1985 (fairly HQ) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pK7ZLl0lV00#)
In my opinion its fantastic, really makes you think how times have changed.

Feel free to put others and discuss them. So what do you think of the one above?

Ah yes .. back in the old days before

- kids were too fat to cycle

- "I'm sorry they did a batch run, try next year"

- "You can't go out on the busy roads with a bicycle, even with a safety hat and high vis, it's not safe"

- "I'm sorry it says 14 or older, is he 14"

mind you also the days before

'I checked on google, hit order and it'll be here tomorrow'   ;-)

I remember Harry Enfield's character Tim Nice But Dim going into a book and awking for a book called Fly Fishing by J.R Hartley only to be told it does'nt exist because it was a fictional book on an advert of the telly.
He then asked if she had any other books by J.R Hartley.

Don't know whether the Hornby R186 signal box ad came before or after the Fly fishing one,but they were both Yellow Pages ads.
