What do folk use to represent a manicured lawn? I was thinking of one of the proprietary sheets. Not sure which one is best, and I need to buy sight-unseen on-line from distant Australia?
:helpneededsign:
Never modelled one, but I tend to think that one of the grass mats offered by the European concerns would be fine.
Would velvet fit the bill - might be too thick though? ???
Hi Stuart,
Don't know but as a suggestion, green fine sandpaper?
They tend to be dark green here in the UK so you could paint lighter stripes for the mowing stripes. Might look too much like green fine gravel but in situ could give the impression of a nice lawn.
Cheers weave :beers:
A recent article on Pendon in MRJ used carpet fabric from dolls house material suppliers. I imagine that they would have some suitable for N gauge.
I use the Gaugemaster grass matting sheets (I think Faller also do them) for neat and well manicured front lawns for houses etc. It looks very neat but perhaps would look too neat for large fields etc as it would , to my eyes, be too uniform.
For larger areas I use grass scatter topped with static grass.
What size are we looking at here?
I suspect small area, so grass mat should be fine.
Thanks'guys! It is for the lawns around my Metcalfe semis. I think that it is a toss-up between Gaugemaster, as recommended by "port perran", or Woodland Scenics. They are both for "any scale", so it's a matter of which looks right for our scale!
:confused2:
I've used the Gaugemaster sheets for this if it's of any help.

:thankyousign: to port perran. I will go gaugemaster! Now, shall I order "spring" or "summer"? :hmmm:

No gnomes??
Ha, that's a thought.
Now......how can I make a gnome or two?
Z gauge figures painted bright colours or ready painted from China.I think they would make N gauge gnomes.
