Title: I learn something new everyday.
Post by: Bikeracer on February 29, 2012, 09:54:58 AM
I kept thinking as I looked at my points, why do Peco mould the end sleepers on when I have to cut them off to get the fishplates on the rail.

Looked this morning and there's actually a groove in the end sleepers to let the fishplate slide on, so no more big gaps with sleepers missing. The groove needs widening slightly for insulated fishplates but at least the sleepers stay intact.

I believe that for code 55 this is only on the newer tooling. The three ways for example all have this rather sensible improvement.

The grooves are present on all my code 80 points, some are 15 years old!

But why do "express" points require you to hack the ends off of sleepers so you can fit track to them? Bonkers.
