Title: More help please
Post by: Yeoman on June 13, 2018, 04:07:47 PM
I have just purchased a new PC  with Windows 10 as the operating system - unfortunately it will not allow me to install my "bible" a piece of photo editing software that has been invaluable to me. Can anyone recommend a piece of software that will allow me to crop jpegs to either 4" x 6", 7" x 5" and A4 sizes please?

Microsoft Digital Image 10 - apparently its a 32bit programme which makes it incompatible - what ever that means!

Have you tried compatiblity mode? I assume you can install it, just not run it?

Advice here (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-windows_install/microsoft-digital-image-suite-on-win-10/919b878f-c092-4a22-a6e4-a6a6d51c6fa1).

There's a slightly quirky looking workaround listed as the second answer here (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-windows_install/microsoft-digital-image-suite-10/bbffcb24-2c75-426f-8a8d-bad015e19b44).

The photo editor which comes with Windows 10 is perfectly capable of cropping and adjusting the basic level of photos. It's what I use nowadays.

If I need to resize then I open with MS Paint and use that.  Granted it only gives you the option for percentage or pixels. For print size I guess it also depends what DPI you're printing at?

You can also try the snipping tool in Windows accessories.
