I've been out and about taking photos to use as a backscene for Tregonning - my layout in a case.
This is the sort of thing I've taken and it does, I think looks ok:

My plan is to print onto A4 printer paper (bog standard not photo paper) then paste that onto sections of mounting card to give the backscene stability.
My question is what type of glue to use? I obviously don't want any curving of the card as the glue dries.
I'd recommend visiting an Art supply shop, for some spray mount and a rubber roller. Also visit Argos for a few catalogues - great for weighting things down while the glue sets, but put OHP film, clingfilm, or alu-foil between the catalogues and your work.
My inclination is also to use spray mount adhesive. Probably not the repositionable sort. But you are more likely to achieve an even, thin coating of adhesive than brushing or spreading tube or jar glues.
However, my backscene, applied that way, has developed bubbles.
Having read @RailGooner (http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=5427) 's comment, I'm wondering if I should have used a roller. I brushed the scene flat like wallpaper and also smoothed it with a cloth. Still bubbled. :confused1:
Possibly I didn't actually achieve 100% coverage of course.
I find that domestic print on ordinary paper tends to deteriorate over time. You also are stuck with A4 size pieces of paper and joints all along the backscene. I recently used Solopress ( https://www.solopress.com/ (https://www.solopress.com/) ) to print a backscene for me. I built up a jpg file using paint.net (a free photoshopping app) and ordered a print on line from Solopress. I ordered one 60" by 40" poster on 110gsm bond paper and this cost £15.60 including postage. I ordered it on Good Friday and it arrived on the Tuesday after Easter. I know this isn't answering the question but I am so pleased with the results that I wanted to share it. I just used pva adhesive to glue it to my plywood backboard.

Use image editing software to resize if required, to get more height print sky scenes the same size, trim the sky from the scenic sheet and paste over the bottom of the sky sheet, you should be able to get a combinned useable height of from 12" - 15"
