does anyone know which chips fit the sockets in Voyagers and 67s?
Some chips appear to be 'the wrong way round' as it were because the socket is so close to the pcb, the only way to get a chip in is to bend the pins a little or have a chip correctly orientated for these sockets? I'm wanting to replace reasonable chips in my voayger cabs which only operate the lights with cheap Chinese six pin chips and reuse the better chips elsewhere, but the cheap chips dont fit (easily)

67 is a bit tight so use a small decoder (ie not the fat bachmann ones). The catalogue used to indicate what they knew fitted.
For the voyager you can wire the whole unit together - which nicely fixes all the light flicker, and use one decoder, or also it's possible to ignore the socket and use the really cheap OO wired decders dumped in all the space in the body shell and wired to the thing.

Do you know of any references for wiring the whole thing together? Its not a bad idea but I can see it ending in tears.
Im now thinking the cheap Chinese chips could still be used with a six pin harness extension. These chips have the wires for a capacitor I believe. I could get a decent size cap in the voyager. Any idea what cap anyone?

You can remove the Pcb from a DCC blanking plug and then connect a socket + wires or an OO decoder. The small plug should fit.
Digitrax etc sell 6 pin plug + wire sets
A set of cheap phone repair tools from eBay,or a thinned down credit card will help. Insert betrpween she'll & chassis, and it should help.
Wiring them together is fiddly. It was pretty much required on the 220 but the 221 it's probably overkill
The harness is a good idea - easier than hand soldering them all.

The Lais decoders do, yes. I think the general theme is the biggest cap you can fit - 4700uF is common IIRC, but I've read of people using multiple caps. Make sure it's rated significantly higher than your track voltage - 25 or 35v, so it doesn't go pop!
I have used DZ126IN decoders in 67s and Voyager Power Cars with the old Bachmann 36-558s in the Voyager driving cars. No problems fitting either of them to the sockets.

On the Dapol 220 I just soldered to the pcbs and ran thin wire up and down the unit. Nothing clever
