Title: Severn Valley Railway vandalised
Post by: GrahamB on December 26, 2017, 06:34:56 PM
Very sad and annoying news http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hereford-worcester-42484761 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hereford-worcester-42484761)

What do these idiots get out of it?

That's very sad news. As you say, what do these people gain by doing this mindless vandalism? If only they could channel the energy it takes to do this into something more constructive.  :(

Apart from what else they might get out of it, they have the knowledge that a) there is not much chance of getting caught and b) if they do get caught, there is virtually no chance that they will be punished adequately, (if at all!).  But that is another subject ........... It is such a shame when many people, (mostly volunteers), spend hours and hours restoring and renovating rolling stock and the like for the benefit of other people.

They should have there hands chopped off if they get caught. A lot of effort has been put into keeping these coaches preserved. What do they get out of this.

Unfortunately it's happened at almost every preserved railway I know of,
The mid Norfolk has had it happen several times.

Didn't this happen last Christmas or a couple back?

Sad, and the cost of security is prohibitive, I guess.

Sad to hear.

I've said it before but if, by any chance, these scum are caught then punish the parents with fines.
I fear it will get to the stage where all such Heritage sites have to instal CCTV and it will be the public who end up paying for it
