I really like the look of the Farish 3mt 2-6-2 tank engines but they seem to be very had to find. I would like a pristine black one. I have seen green ones on eBay and it seems as though Farish will be bringing out a weathered one but I would prefer a plain black one.
Assuming one eventually turns up, are they good runners?
:NGF:
Green ones are due September I believe. I don't know about the black ones. I've asked my model shop to put a green one aside for me.
As you say it looks to be a nice model.
More stress on the bank account!!!
:beers:
A few people have reported problems but mine (Black Late Crest) runs very nicely indeed and is certainly a whole lot more controllable than the Dapol Ivatt.

I've got a black one and a green one from the first production batch. They look good and mine have run faultlessly. The only hiccup I've found is that the handrail wire breaks off VERY easily, so superglue repairs have been necessary.
That little Ivatt is more fun to control than an X box shoot 'm' up game.
Don't think that's how its supposed to be though.
:)

Likewise. The thing to remember is not to unscrew the middle screw on the baseplate (to access the gears for lubing) as this then disconnects the power inside the body  Guess how I know this :-[

In our experience, probably the poorest of the modern generation Farish Steam locos...
Only one I can recall where a loco was returned to the retailer and the replacement also returned for replacement...
Issues with poor pick-ups and fragile valve-gear...
