Title: Tarpaulins for wagons
Post by: port perran on May 28, 2017, 01:59:34 PM
I've been playing around to try to make realistic tarpaulin covers for wagons.
I'm reasonably happy with this attempt and keen to see what others think:

My next one will have slightly longer sides I think.
Not sure about the ropes? Dors it look like a badly tied Christmas present?

This video shows how to make realistic looking tarpaulins,

Looks like a pretty good stab at it, Martin
My only concern is the 'wet look'. Have you had some rail down there? ;)

It's actually pouring down but I know what you mean.
I'll matt down the next one. I want it to have a sream days look when they chucked any old piece of tarpaulin over a wagon.

Chaps

I created some for my stock, using Excel, I have even sent it up so that you can change the numbers on them. I have some for the LMS and constituents and some for BR.

I would be more than happy to send the file to you so all you have to do is print them, if you PM me your email address I will send some across.

I have not got any SR ones, but I can soon knock them up

Let me know

I made some from toilet paper, folded and dampened to sit flatish then once dried over the wagon painted with acrylics to the colour I wanted. You can also buy ready made, and printed ones for not a lot of £, try eBay for suppliers.

Both are running on my layout and look OK to me!
