Hi, this is John's oldest son. I'm not sure where to post or who to contact here but I thought it was important to contact someone.
Unfortunately dad went into hospital a week ago and while he seemed to be getting better he had a sudden turn for the worse on Saturday night going into a coma and passed away on Sunday morning.
Such sad news, and my thoughts go out to his family and friends. It was very good of John's eldest son to let us know of this.
Be at peace, John :(
Very Sad. Rest in Peace.
Thanks to John's son for letting us know.
That is sad news indeed - Jon always seemed to deal so well with all the frustrations that his medical conditions gave him.
Sad news indeed. He was one of the foundation stones of the forum in my eyes. All sympathy to his family and friends.

This is more sad news for, and about, forum friends. My thoughts are with his family and friends.
I've just looked at his profile and see he has the also-much-missed Peter Charles Fagg as his buddy. I can imagine them together having a good old running session in their "better place", at peace, and applying Rule 1.
Thanks to John's family for passing it on, also to NewportNobby for letting us all know.

I have checked our moderation logs and cannot find any evidence of the post being deleted by us. Perhaps you could re-post it?
Jon and I regularly conversed in the early days as we struggled to find our feet moderating the forum. He was a smashing bloke, open to ideas and discussion, passionate about the things he stood up for all with a tremendous sense of humour.
A terribly sad day for Jons' family, friends and the forum
