Title: S&D 7F 53809
Post by: Dancess on March 26, 2017, 06:45:05 PM
Lucky to get 53809 at a reasonable price, not one of those on Ebay that went for £201. Mine has see through wheels, 14 wheel electrical pick up, finer valve gear and even the tablet catcher on the tender.

Now only have to lay the track!

Gem (Lytchett manor) used to do do a 7F kit, to fit Farish 8F chassis. However just checked their website and it's not currently listed.

Very nice if its the gem kit on scratch or rewheeled chassis. pretty certain there was an etched kit in 2mm a while back based on the Finney 3mm version- but could be dreaming as I cannot find reference quickly... nice it was true though.

I would really hope the 4mm bachmann got "shrunk rayed" but not holding breath until a while back as the latest offerings with small motor look very promising but it does need to be able to haul 27 opens !

my N gem  runs ok but looks a little undernourished so not sure if its really 2mm over N.
