My wife Sheila and I had a day out on the North Lincolnshire coast today, first at Donna Nook Nature Reserve where there is also an RAF gunnery and bombing target range. No jets today, just the peace and quiet of the coastal marshes and flats with hazy views of ships in the Humber approaches, an egret or two, and plenty of other birds to spy.
Moving north we went to Cleethorpes for no better reason than that we could and I was delighted to find the Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway had an engine in steam. The staff were evidently readying the line for Half Term weekend running.
