Title: A visit to my old Mans and I thought I had alot of stuff!
Post by: cudders on February 02, 2017, 08:05:44 PM
Hi chaps,

Popped to see the old fella today. Been a while as he usually visits me.

A quick look in the railway room left me well..speechless!

I thought I had a lot of stuff until he started opened piles of boxes. I counted at least 100 locos, more coaches and goods wagons I could shake a stick at. Also a box full of old loco kits from Langley, Fox and Graham Hughes. I thought I had seen the last of those!

Then came the other stuff..piles of buildings, kits etc etc. He gave me a box full of SD mouldings stuff as he reckoned he wouldn't us them and a large station kit. Nice  :D.

"it's all yours when I go son" he then said.

Rather have my dad though.  ;)

Yeh he started me off with OO as a little lad. We moved to n gauge 20 years ago and never looked back!  Finally clearing the loft out at mine so fingers crossed will make a proper start on a big layout soon 😁

My father  sort of introduced me to N, when he passed away in 1974 I inherited a Fleischmann 7161, a Farish Holden 0-6-0T some Fleischmann track and a few wagons.

The 7161 I used a couple of years later to provide a chassis for a Langley S15 kit, initially in BR black, but since reliveried in SR olive and still running, only one hiccup a couple of years back, the motor burnt out, replaced  and running OK.

The Holden tank got hacked into something resembling an Adams G6, odd bits of which are still around. The Fleischmann track has long since fallen by the wayside, apart from a couple of pieces still hiding an the bottom of a box with other discarded track.
