Title: I need an mathematician !
Post by: Graham Walters on December 02, 2016, 09:52:34 PM
If I have a model that is in the scale of 1:200, is there a formula for converting it to 1/43rd, 1/76th and 1/43rd.

I've been given a load of drawings that are all 1:200 scale but are of no use unless I can re-scale them, the only alternative is to google all the items to see if I can find the 1:1 dimensions !

My guess is to multiply all dimension by 200/43 etc....  Smaller scale number, larger model?

@Graham Walters (http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=4512)  Graham, see if this link is any good for you -

or maybe this -

Mods - I intended for Graham to be tagged on my reply, but another Graham, in Australia, got tagged - did I do sumfink wrong  ???

Strange....... ??? But it definitely went to the wrong Graham - maybe it's the time difference  :)

yes....

multiply by 200 then...

divide by 43
divide by 76 etc etc....

...you could have also just converted in google which would give an exact value and conversion factor in a few sconds of thinking about it.

Bear in mind that you probably don't want to scale everything up, at 1:200 there will be huge compromises on the size of detail items, wall thicknesses etc, that at 1:43 would look crazy. Think about n gauge proportions in G scale.
