Title: Storm Angus
Post by: Newportnobby on November 20, 2016, 09:26:02 AM
Sorry to hear our brethren darn Sarf are copping for some pretty grim weather and hope everyone is OK. Keep safe!
For those abroad, winds of 97mph have been recorded through the English Channel and 20mm of rain fell within an hour in the SW of England :worried:

If it happens darn sarf, it will fill the evening news. If you get that sort of weather in the Midlands or North, you don't hear a dicky bird.

With this bad weather it is good to see all of the 'fortifications' in place to prevent the subsidence caused by flooding, when travelling over the Fareham/Eastleigh line. The line suffered because of the floods in 2014 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-26365660)

Same in Cornwall. We get several storms worse than that every Winter and they barely get a mention nationally.

A good test for the recently reinstated piece of line between Dover and Folkestone. In effect they built the railway on a very long viaduct.

I imagine its tweetings would be drowned out by the noise of the storm anyway.
