Hmmmm...this is seriously :offtopicsign: but it is GWR so maybe :whiteflag:
Mmmmmmmmm.
I've just checked my credit card. My "pending transactions" seems rather high so it could be that the money has been claimed. :D
On the other hand, my wife might have found a money saving offer she couldn't resist.
GWR or not lets hope it comes in Bluebell livery :)
Oh, I hoped I missed a Bachmann announcement to shrink their OO model.
I have never owned a Union Mills Loco. Are they to Farish or Dapol Standard in detail and finish? The only steamer I have is a Farish WD 2-8-0 and I wouldn't want less.
Thank you for your answers.
Have a gander round the forum for "Union Mills", I don't have one (yet) but they are apparently basic but very solid and reliable.
They are indeed basic, but as Railsquid says, very reliable runners. They can be detailed to improve their looks considerably.
In fact we have members here who have done exactly that.
I really like Union Mills Locos but they are very basic models and would not suit a lot of our members ,I am not capable of doing a lot of detailing other than vacuum pipes and maybe a lamp .
Some people actually file of the moulded handrails and fit new knobs and wire rails that makes a real difference ,others say they remove the lettering because it's too big and then they also line the loco and tender..
My criteria is IT LOOKS THE PART ,IT PULLS MY COACHES in fact they would probably pull a house down, AND THEY GO ON FOREVER, plus you get terrific service from Colin ,One of my mates accidently changed a point underneath a D20 he forgot it and we went for a cuppa when we came back about twenty minutes later the motor was burnt out so I asked Colin for a new motor he asked me what model and how old it was ,he said he didn't use that motor any more so send the whole model to him ,Two days later I had a phone call the Loco would be back with me and it would cost£10 ,when it arrived he had put a new tender on as they are a double ended motor now .
HOW MANY OTHER COMPANIES GIVE A SERVICE LIKE THAT ?
