Title: The Royal APT in N Gauge
Post by: railsquid on September 09, 2016, 02:09:28 PM
What the Fishplate, no doubt you are thinking. Has Railsquid finally lost it? Doubtful, as Railsquid never had "it" in the first place.

What Railsquid does have is this Japanese magazine from 1983:

mokei-testudo-shumi-apt-1 (https://flic.kr/p/LAFM6N) by Rail Squid (https://www.flickr.com/photos/129145651@N06/), on Flickr

featuring this very freelance model based on the Seibu 5000 series (https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E8%A5%BF%E6%AD%A65000%E7%B3%BB%E9%9B%BB%E8%BB%8A), a limited express train which used to run on my local line (and which I own as a model, but in the original blood'n'custard livery).

Spot the big mistake:

Yes, the APT power cars were located in the centre of the train.

I know, surprisingly sloppy for then to get a detail like that wrong...

That actually looks a very attractive model.

I must say the passenger windows look pretty close to the real thing.

In that livery the front cab windows put me more in mind of the Blue Pullman though.

There is more than a hint of Network South East in that livery as well. Perhaps Chris Green was a reader!

Now you mention it, the blue is somewhat more toothpaste-y than whatever the APT colour is.

This will confuse @Tank (http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=2) methinks ;)

Looks like something out of Thunderbirds to me...

And why does the word Train have such a large 'T' and such a small 'rain'? It's
like me writing as a child running out of space at the end of the page!
