Just thought I would log onto the forum and see what's happening, plus explain why I have been absent. My situation has changed a little but only temporary, the daughter with son-in-law and 10 month old baby moved in with us in early March, they are having a house built, so have sold up last house and were "looking after them". to do this I had to sacrifice my "train room" and curtail all model railway activities from that point on. The Model Railway has been dismantled (buildings trees etc....) except for the track which is now vertical against the wall.
The good part so far was we (the minister for finance and fun and I) spent all of April and May in the UK, visiting family and friends this allowed me to visit such places as Hattons, met Nick Metcalfe (Card Kits) outside of Skipton and Rails of Sheffield. Hattons new showroom was just completed and we managed to offload some dosh for some new Engines and carriages for my layout. We also did the Pickering to Whitby thing and a short ride on the Embsay to Bolton Abbey Steam Railway with a trip to the NRM at York, we had to do some activities for the minister to enjoy also and overall we had a great trip covering 5,600 miles in a hire car in 63 days, plus I lost count how many different ales I consumed.
Now were back home in Australia, baby is now 13 months old and into everything, how child proof can we get, I've got locks on things that don't open, and I'm no closer to seeing my model railway as the house building has not even started yet, I might be lucky to get my train room back for Christmas, meanwhile all I can do is dream, and follow this forum, by far the best one available, but the more I look the more I will want to make changes to my layout as I've seen some really great work on this forum and it is a wealth of knowledge, I doo feel a layout change will be required.
Sounds like you had a great time!
Good to see you posting again and hope the forum keeps you entertained until the train room becomes available again
Good to have you back.
Hope you find some inspiration on here for your own layout.
U.K. Visit was great, it's a good thing when the minister for fun and finance encourages one to do train and steam things, and not complain about it, even used some of her hard earned to treat me to some goodies.
I have plenty of ideas for layout, but space is the issue, I've thought about adding modules to my layout, but will look into layout software and plan a little better, retirement is on the horizon, end of year to 12 months should see me free from employment then to tackle some of the things I have in mind to help pass the day. Thanks for your comments, I'm always watching the forum even if I don't log on.
I was two years into our Northallerton project when Mrs K decided to sprout twins. Dunno how that happened.
Needlesstosay, I would give my eye teeth to have had just one. They are three and half now, and they have each very nearly taken the option of becoming a singleton.
Any railway ambitions I had at home were taken over by seemingly endless amounts of soft toys. All modelling now takes place at the club. Still a year behind schedule though.
Glad you enjoyed the NYMR.
Cheers
Kirky.

We tried to childproof our house, but they still got in!
Our home is childproofed beyond belief, good thing is child will be in new home by Xmas (me hopes).
