A friend of mine's neighbour has a boxed set of 3 x Hornby Railways A4s details as below. They are labelled as 'The Collection' and the 3 certificates are signed by Simon Kohler and are dated Jan 1994.
The run was limited to 3000 of each model of "Sir Ralph Wedgwood".
Garter Blue livery 1939 - 1942
Wartime Black livery 1944 - 1947
BR Green livery 1962 - 1965
I have been sent pics but they are so poor I'd have to ask for more if anyone wants to see them ::)
Please don't spend too much time over this but I would like to get some idea of the value back to the bloke if only to stop him getting ripped off by a dealer.
:help: :thankyousign:
Not what you where looking for and probably would have found yourself :beers:
in 1994 Hornby had produced the Limited Edition 'Wedgwood Collection' which consisted of three differently liveried A4 models that were all named 'Sir Ralph Wedgwood'. This collection tracked the history of the name rather than the locomotive from its first dedication through to when the locomotive carrying the name was scrapped.

No, but I am thinking Reese Shearsmith as The League of Gentlemen sprang to my mind :help:
Ramsey's British Model Trains suggests that the wooden boxed set of three is worth £250, or they are £80 each, or £65 unboxed. I suspect that EBay prices will be lower.
These A4s were from the 1979 vintage moulds. Hornby went on to have a 1998 super detailed model, and a 2004 super super detailed model. The 2008 Railroad model has a new body on the 1998 chassis.
