Morning ladies and gents.....and Newportnobby.
I need help from you! I would like to extend the logo at the top of the picture with a close up of 3 or 4 loco's.... e.g. Steam, Diesel, Electric, possibly EMU, all in N Gauge. :camera: A staggered photo of the sides of them all, and the front ends....at ground level. Does that make sense? :smiley-laughing:
A little like the picture below, but lower down, and more to the right. I would do it, but I don't have any steam loco's.
Does your current camera have macro and/or supermacro?
I can take close up photos of bogies (full frame) but you need supermacro for this
I also don't have any steam loco, the nearest "range" combination I can get :
Class 91 (electric loco)
Class 37 / 47 / 56 / 60 / 66 (diesel-electric loco)
Class 158 / 170 (DMU)
Mark 3B or 4 DVT
Class 43 (HST power car)
I am able to use a dedicated macro lens for my DSLR camera, but I really wanted someone to cover the main time periods (obviously it's hard for people to cover the early days of steam)!
Please feel free to do a photo the best you can. I might make a few title pictures and have them on rotate if they're clear enough.
Cheers!
Mine are all modern diesels - don't think that would make for a very interesting photo! I could do something with my Western, L/L Class 37, Triple Grey 60 and one of my 66s so at least there's a bit of colour in it.
OK, that would be great Chris! I thought you had a steam loco? ??? I must have been thinking of someone else! If you could do it with a white background to, that would be ace, as I want to cut out the background out of it.
Have some steam but not the photographic skills or equipment.
Small loco's only.- got a british body on my Trix 0-6-0 now,Union Mills 3F in BR Black, Japanese C11 until sold.
I've had a quick go, see what you think...

I had a steamer for a short while but that was sold to pay for the Western, and it didn't seem to like my pointwork much ??? I'd like to get Tornado one day though....
4x2 - the last picture is just what I want, BUT, can you have the loco's facing the other way please!!!!
A shame about the camera Oldman.
Also a shame about the steamer Chris.
I do have a couple of really old Farish panniers somewhere. I suppose that could show progression on the hobby in terms of the manufacturers! :)
That is the what is being sought, but closer and more profiled, that way the aspect remains the same (gives a rather flat appearance)
How's this ?

That's good 4x2. I'll be able to use those. Many thanks.
Keep them coming folks, as I'll do a few.
No probs !
Nice work Tank and 4x2. The logo is looking good.
What about this one? (click to expand)

Nice photo Chris. But what has the banner done to the picture, the proportions look wrong not really sure how to describe. Please don`t take what i`ve said as a critism as i cannot take macro photos of n-gauge, i just don`t get the composition etc right.
Stu
I think I may have fluffed up the proportions a bit when resizing the photo in Photoshop. It didn't look too bad when I saved it but seeing it on here the locos do look a bit tall! I'll re-do it shortly.
Well you went one step further than I thought you would Chris! :D The loco's look good. Can you cut off half of the 66, and then make them all a bit bigger? It gives a nice closer shot then. Or, send me the picture. Well done mate.
I took 9 pics in total with various locos so I'll have a play around with those and see which looks the best.
Hope you don't mind me saving the logo off the forum page Chris!
How about this one:

   Love it love it love it
That's great Chris. :Class37:
What? No A4 and no Deltic! ???
Seriously, great pic Chris.
Great pic 4 x 2

Great pic 4 x 2
Thanks ! I understand Tank's idea was to promote all types of traction, era's and regions. All that's missing from my pic is an electric loco (haven't got one at the mo). I did get most types though...
1x Steamer (Jubilee)
1x Diesel Mechanical (cl 108)
1x Diesel Electrical (EMD NW2)
1x Diesel Hydraulic (cl 14)
I thought that using an American loco would show that we cater for international N gauge/scale as well as the UK.

What? No A4 and no Deltic! ???
Not yet! Future planned purchases include a Deltic to renumber as 55022 and would also like Tornado. Other priorities at the moment...
Come on guys and girls, I need some pictures of steam loco's! :) :A1Tornado:

All N gauge : Tomytec Tram(1/150), Hobbytrain Tamper (1/160) , Minitrix 0-6-0.
KatoC11 and Union Mills 3F
Don't know if these are any good.
Thanks Oldman. It's a shame that you cut off the left hand side of the pictures. I like the first one you've done with the tram and Plasser & Theurer. Could you do that one again, a tiny bit further away (so the left hand side is there). Thanks! :camera:
I just added a photo on there. I forgot I had a Dapol M7 tucked away from 3-4 years ago.

Left to right: Kato GS-4 Morning Daylight; Kato JRF EH200 and Dapol 58
That's great, thanks!!!
Yes, that will do everyone, many thanks for your help. :) :NGaugersRule:
A technical note now that some of these have been applied to the header on the website
They are taking some time to load, as each is different
On first view the image placeholder is not present, which results in the text jumping down once the image has completed loading
Easily fixed by adding the relevant
width="1000" height="150" tags in the code
They are somewhat annoying on s smartphone initially it must be said, but the 'adblock' button worked a treat 8)
Works fine on my phone. Maybe you should upgrade. 8)

..... actually I included those I had models of - do you have any for your extras list? But then there's also;
1x atmospheric
1x horse drawn
1x rocket (current world speed record)
1x gravity
1x etc
so not exactly 'most' then.

Hope you don't mind Ollie - and it might need a few tweaks. I'd liked to have got more of Tornado in but couldn't without distorting the image.
Gotta say that looks very good indeed! Much better that i thought it would to be fair lol

There is a picture of an American, a Japanese and a UK loco in post #35. I'll see what else I can find.
Doh! I should have looked back in the thread again. ::) ;D I'll certainly be using that picture. Hopefully I'll get some free time to catch up this weekend - especially with the members who wish to be added to the Member Map. :)
As requested...one more overseas offering.
Not perfect composition, but judging by many of the rest of the pictures the right-hand side can be trimmed down a bit.
From left to right - Kato Hong Kong KTT Electric (based on the Swiss 460), DB V220 Hydraulic (Arnold) and finally a Kato JNR C11 rtank engine...
